* Using the term “blue tigers eye” to describe this material is a common misnomer. Hawk’s-Eye is a transparent colorless quartz containing closely packed, parallel fibers of crocidolite asbestos that impart to it a grayish-blue to greenish-blue color. Tiger’s-Eye Quartz is of the same origin, but experiences iron oxidation during formation. This iron oxide content gives Tiger’s-Eye its golden-brown to reddish-brown color. The more heat Tiger's-Eye experiences, the more red the color.
